Dane County to Begin Planning for Future Renovations to Yahara River Lock and Dam Structures

The Dane County Land and Water Resources Department received a $500,000 grant from the State Recreational Boating Facilities Program to complete water flow and navigation improvements to the Babcock and LaFollette Lock and Dams. The project is a continuation of improvements completed on the lock and dam at Tenney Park in 2007. Initial planning efforts for the Babcock structure will investigate existing lock and dam conditions, proposed operational improvements, as well as recreation use and public access to the facility.
A public information meeting to present draft improvements and solicit input will be held on Wednesday, December 16th, 2009, 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the McFarland Municipal Center, 5915 Milwaukee Street, McFarland, WI 53558.
