Kathy Krusiec Named Interim Director of 911 Center
Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk said today she has accepted the resignation of Public Safety Communications Center Director Joe Norwick effective Friday, September 19th.
Norwick had served as 911 Director since July of 2007, returning to county service after a brief retirement following more than three decades in the Dane County Sheriff’s Department.
“I thank Director Norwick for his service and the enhancements he embarked upon as director of the Public Safety Communications Center,” Falk said.
Falk credited Norwick for initiating a variety of technology and infrastructure upgrades in the 911 Center and for coordinating implementation of a new $30-million, state of the art emergency radio system Dane County will construct to serve law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services across the county. A key feature of this system will allow all emergency responders in the county to easily communicate with one another.
Falk has named Kathy Krusiec Interim Director of the Public Safety Communications Center. Over her more than 15 years as Director of Dane County Emergency Management, Krusiec has worked closely with the public safety agencies dispatched by the 911 Center.
Prior to beginning her service as Dane County Emergency Management Director in 1993, Krusiec held the same position for Chippewa County where, among other responsibilities, she wrote that county’s Enhanced 911 Implementation Plan. Prior to that she was an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) specialist who helped train emergency medical responders in a four-county region of northwest Wisconsin.
Krusiec will serve as Interim Director of the Public Safety Communications Center but will not seek the position permanently. The county will coordinate a nationwide search for a permanent director.
Dave Janda, Deputy Director of Emergency Management for the past ten years, will coordinate day-to-day operations of the Dane County Emergency Management Department.
