DANE COUNTY — Dane County Executive Melissa Agard is recognizing June as Pride Month, celebrating the contributions of LGBTQ+ residents and reaffirming Dane County’s commitment to creating a community where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and belonging.
“Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community and to honor the generations of LGBTQ+ individuals whose courage and advocacy have expanded freedom, equality, and opportunity for so many,” said County Executive Agard. “Dane County is proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ neighbors, not just during Pride Month, but every day of the year.”
Throughout its history, Pride Month has served as both a celebration and a reminder that the work of building a more inclusive society continues. Dane County remains committed to fostering welcoming communities, supporting equal access to services and opportunities, and ensuring that all residents can live authentically and safely.
“When every person feels valued and respected, our entire community benefits. Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate love, acceptance, and the shared belief that everyone deserves the freedom to be who they are.”
County Executive Agard encourages residents to participate in local Pride Month events, support LGBTQ+ organizations and businesses, and take time to recognize the many contributions LGBTQ+ individuals make to the cultural, economic, and civic life of Dane County.
“As we celebrate Pride Month, let us continue working together to build a Dane County where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” Agard said. “That is the Dane County Way.”
