MADISON, WI — Dane County is proud to honor Public Service Recognition Week and celebrate the dedicated employees whose work supports the health, safety, and well-being of residents across the county every day. This year Public Service Recognition Week is held May 3-9. A resolution proclaiming the week is attached.
County government plays a foundational role in public life. This work is often done behind the scenes, but is essential in our daily lives. In Dane County, that work spans the full breadth of community needs, including public safety, courts, highways and transportation, human services, recreation, conservation, economic development, and the operation of major public assets such as the Dane County Regional Airport, the Alliant Energy Center, and Badger Prairie Health Care Center.
Together, these services form the backbone of county government and help ensure residents can thrive. Public Service Recognition Week offers an opportunity to recognize the dedicated county staff who serve residents in times of crisis and stability alike. They maintain roads and public facilities, care for vulnerable populations, protect natural resources, support families, operate critical infrastructure, and respond during challenging times.
“Dane County employees are the public servants who keep our community safe and strong,” said County Executive Agard. “Their work may not always be visible, but it is indispensable. Public Service Recognition Week is a chance to thank them for their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to serving residents with dignity and respect.”
Dane County’s role is especially significant as the fastest-growing county in Wisconsin and a major engine of the state’s economic and population growth. That growth creates both opportunity and responsibility. County government must ensure that infrastructure, public services, and natural resources keep pace with demand while preserving the qualities that make Dane County a desirable place to live, work, and visit. County employees are central to that effort.
Dane County encourages residents, community partners, and fellow employees to join in recognizing the contributions of County workers and the vital role they play in ensuring our community continues to be strengthened for the generations to come.
