The 2025 National Theme is “With Survivors, Always”

MADISON, Wis. — Dane County Executive Melissa Agard today declared October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Dane County, joining communities across the country in honoring survivors, raising awareness, and reaffirming the county’s commitment to ending domestic violence.

“Survivors deserve safety. Survivors deserve support. Survivors deserve solidarity,” said County Executive Agard. “In Dane County, we commit to showing up for survivors - always. This month we rededicate ourselves to building systems and relationships anchored in dignity, healing, and justice.”

The 2025 national theme, “With Survivors, Always,” calls on individuals, communities, and institutions to stand alongside survivors and advocate for safety, support, and solidarity every day of the year. Domestic Violence Awareness Month is both a remembrance and a call to action - an opportunity to honor those lost to violence, celebrate the strength of survivors, and renew efforts to create a future free from abuse.

Under County Executive Agard’s leadership, Dane County continues to strengthen partnerships with service providers, law enforcement, and community organizations to ensure survivors have access to the resources and support they need.

“Domestic violence affects people of every age, background, and community,” Agard said. “It is a public issue that requires public action. Together, we can ensure that every survivor in Dane County knows they are seen, heard, and supported.”
