Madison, WI – The Bay Area is now a non-stop flight away for business and leisure travelers throughout Dane County and south central Wisconsin thanks to United Airlines’ launch of daily non-stop, year-round service to San Francisco today.

“Thank you to United Airlines for their continued support of the Dane County region,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi.  “Not only will this flight serve tourists headed to California, but it will also provide a vital connection between high-tech Silicon Valley and south-central Wisconsin’s growing tech industry.”

Flights will depart MSN daily at 3:11 p.m. on an Embraer E-175 aircraft featuring two-class service, AC power ports, larger over-head bins that can accommodate full sized carry-ons, and Wi-Fi.

“United Airlines is pleased to offer customers the first daily nonstop service between Madison and the West Coast,” said Ankit Gupta, United’s Vice President of Domestic Network Planning. “The new service gives our Madison-area business and leisure customers unmatched opportunities to connect through San Francisco to more than 72 destinations in the United States and more than 24 international destinations each day.”

“We are excited about United’s decision to offer a direct flight from Dane County Regional Airport to San Francisco,” said Erin McWilliams, Travel Operations Manager at Epic. “It not only brings increased opportunities for us to support our current and future Northern California customers, but also helps grow an important relationship between the Bay Area and Madison’s tech community.”

The Dane County Regional Airport provides seamless, low-stress, and affordable options for both leisure and business travelers with more than 100 daily arrivals and departures.  Nonstop service to 15 cities provides access to nearly every worldwide destination.

“This new non-stop flight is not only a transit connection but also an economic connection between two of the fastest-growing technology job creators in the country,” said Zach Brandon, President of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce. “Having this convenient access to San Francisco and Silicon Valley is exciting news for Greater Madison’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and our efforts to attract new investment and recruit world-class talent.”

“The direct flight may trigger new and bolster the many existing partnerships between Madison and Bay Area universities, research centers, and companies,” said Brad Schwartz, CEO of the Morgridge Institute for Research, a biomedical research organization affiliated with UW-Madison. “America’s economic leadership is driven in large part by research innovation, and it’s a big reason why these two regions are so successful.”
