                                                              Climate Change Will Be Priority

Dane County announced today that Emergency Management is updating the County’s Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan and is seeking public input. In this update cycle, the County will address the threat of natural hazards in light of the region’s changing climate. The plan will examine climate trends and determine their projected impacts on natural hazards such as flooding and extreme heat. The inclusion of climate change factors will ensure Dane County takes appropriate steps to protect its citizens’ personal and economic safety, now and for future generations.

“Climate change is real and we need to start planning to mitigate any potential damage,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “While the State and Federal government deny basic science and reality we must move forward to address climate change.”
