Two men are being held in the Dane County Jail on charges of 1stDegree Reckless Homicide following a lengthy death investigation of a 15-year-old girl.
On August 22nd, 2014 at about 4:00 pm, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a person without a pulse and not breathing at 5854 Lochinvars Trail in the town of Medina. After an extensive investigation by the Dane County Medical Examiner, the cause of death was determined to be “acute heroin intoxication.”
That same day, Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search warrant at the Lochinvars Trail address, and arrested Seth Schumacher, age 22 of Marshall, on a probation violation. Schumacher was with the girl at the time of her death. In addition to the charge of 1stDegree Reckless Homicide, Schumacher is now being charged with Sexual Assault of a person under the age of 16 and Possession of Heroin.
The investigation also led to a search warrant at 1948 East Washington Avenue, the residence of 32-year-old Antonio McCarroll. He was originally taken into custody on a probation violation as well, and is now facing additional charges of Possession of Narcotics, Possession of THC, Maintaining a Drug Dwelling, and Possession with Intent to Deliver.
