County Executive Falk Statement: Charter Street Plant to Burn Biomass

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk issued the following statement regarding Friday’s announcement from Governor Doyle that he will pursue funding for a biomass boiler in  the upcoming state budget to run the Charter Street power plant.

“Governor Doyle’s pursuit of home-grown, clean energy to power state and local facilities reflects his desire to lead by example on the use of alternative energy.  Whether its grasses grown on thousands of acres of Dane County fields and valleys or other products otherwise considered waste, this new technology creates plentiful economic opportunities for our growers and producers. 

The Governor’s bold-thinking and leadership is a boost for our local economy and means cleaner air for all to breathe.”
