New Year to Bring First Meetings of New Dane County Alcohol Coalition

Group Formed by County Executive to Start Work January 5th
Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk announced today the first meetings of a county coalition to working on way to counter the harmful affects of alcohol abuse will begin meeting right after the holidays. The meetings were initially scheduled for early-December but had to be rescheduled due to severe winter weather.
The coalition will meet January 5th, 6th, and 12th from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Alliant Energy Center. The first meetings will include presentations from experts on youth and drinking, the impact of alcohol advertising on youth, and an overview on alcohol issues.
“It’ll take many bright minds and good ideas for our communities to succeed in confronting the problems we face from alcohol overconsumption,” Falk said. “I look forward to the coalition’s many productive discussions and hard work in the coming year.”
The first-of-its-kind coalition was created by the County Executive as part of her initiative to combat the human and economic toll that excessive drinking is having on Dane County and its communities. The coalition includes dozens of business, health, educational, law enforcement, and other community leaders.
