This morning, Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge raised the nation's advisory level to High Risk of Terrorist Attack (Orange). This is the second highest of five levels of risk. Dane County Emergency Management Director Kathy Krusiec said this news does not indicate a specific credible threat to any region of our country or a business sector, but that the current intelligence data indicates a higher level of risk. Dane County Emergency Management is monitoring the situation and is in communication with officials at the local, state and federal levels. All Dane County public buildings will be operating as usual, with no additional security measures beyond normal practice. David Jensen, interim director at the Dane County Regional Airport, reports that DCRA’s security measures, as current standard practice, are already at the level required of an “orange” level alert. Citizens can get more information about the Homeland Security Alert System and how it affects them by contacting the Badger Chapter of the American Red Cross or at this web site: ###
