New Native Garden Learning Hub Supports Community Learning around Native Plant
The Dane County Land & Water Resources Department and the Wild Ones Madison Chapter are teaming up to offer a new community learning and networking opportunity centered on creating, enhancing, and managing native plant gardens. The Native Garden Learning Hub will unite resources, community experts, and volunteers to offer targeted learning through engaging community sessions, presentations, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, one-on-one guidance, and much more
"By coming together to restore native plant habitats, we are not only strengthening our local ecosystems but also building a more resilient, climate-ready community,” said Dane County Executive Melissa Agard. “This new Native Garden Learning Hub is a powerful example of how collaboration can spark positive change—connecting people, knowledge, and action to create a healthier future for both our environment and our communities.
The first community gathering event will take place on Sunday, March 16 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Lussier Family Heritage Center (3101 Lake Farm Road, Madison)
This month’s “Spring Fling” learning focus will include the following topics:
- Gardening for Birds
- Gardening for Bees
- Spring Garden Clean Up
- Garden Preparation
- Garden Design
Together, we will share knowledge, build connections, and deepen our understanding of native plant gardens, all with the ultimate goal of expanding native habitats across our communities
Registration is required to attend ($5 per person - proceeds support environmental education and native plant programming). Learn more and register on the event page: https://www.danecountyparks.com/Event/Detail/2285
