Madison, WI – The Dane County Regional Airport (DCRA) has completed all construction and finishing work on the 90,000 square-foot expansion of the south terminal. While the south terminal opened to passengers in June, 2023, all gates are now fully open, the Launch Deck Bar is serving travelers and the airport unveiled the new compass rose terrazzo floor at the transition between the new and existing gate areas.
DCRA experienced a milestone year, achieving its third-highest passenger traffic in its 85-year history. The airport served nearly 1.1 million passengers in 2023, which was just shy of the all-time record of nearly 1.2 million passengers set in 2019. DCRA attributes the growth to a high demand for air travel, new and returning nonstop destinations, a new carrier serving DCRA, and the increased capacity thanks to the expansion of the south terminal.
“Dane County Regional Airport continues to be a world-class, safe, and convenient experience for area residents and those visiting us for both business and leisure,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “We thank everyone who worked so hard to bring the south terminal expansion to life. It is wonderful to see how this project has already helped make an impact on the number of nonstop flights from DCRA,” Parisi continued. “That means great things for our airport, its guests, and our local economy.”
DCRA is experiencing continued growth with its commercial airline partners, most recently with the addition of Breeze Airways offering newly-launched nonstop flights to Tampa and Orlando, Florida, and the upcoming seasonal nonstop service to Los Angeles, California.
“Our travelers continue to recognize that the experience they enjoy at MSN is unparalleled, even compared to larger airports,” said Kim Jones, Airport Director. “We now have the completed south terminal packed with new amenities, new shopping, our newly-opened Launch Deck Bar, and there will be even more to come throughout 2024. From locally-sourced food and beverage, to shorter lines, close and convenient parking, free WiFi-6, new mother’s lounges, new flights, a new airline and more, MSN is the clear choice for air travel,” she concluded.
Celebrating 85 years of commercial flight, the Dane County Regional Airport provides seamless, low-stress, and affordable options for both leisure and business travelers with daily arrivals and departures, non-stop and one-stop service that provides access to nearly every worldwide destination.
In addition, DCRA recently opened all gates in the 90,000-square-foot expansion of its south terminal, with new and updated amenities aimed at making travel easier and more convenient, such as a new Mother’s Lounge, Children’s Play Area, Meeting Rooms, free WiFi-6, an indoor Pet Relief area and more.
