The Dane County Sheriff’s Office successfully resolved a potentially dangerous situation in the town of Dunn, culminating in the arrest of Christopher M. Weber, age 65, on tentative charges of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, False Imprisonment and Disorderly Conduct.
The incident began when deputies responded to calls at Weber’s residence on White Oak Trail twice this week, including one call involving a firearm. On Thursday evening, deputies were alerted to a report of Weber threatening a woman with a gun, which led to Weber firing his shotgun as the woman ran for safety. Thankfully, the woman was not physically injured. Deputies established a perimeter around the residence and attempted to make contact with Weber, who refused to cooperate.
A comprehensive response involving the Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team, the Crisis Negotiation Team, and the UAV Team ensued. After obtaining a search warrant, these specialized teams returned to Weber’s home on Friday morning and peacefully took him into custody.
Sheriff Kalvin Barrett commended the professionalism and expertise of the special teams involved, stating, “Our special teams were vital to bringing this situation to a safe and peaceful conclusion. Investing in their training and technology allows us to provide the highest level of public safety in times of crisis.”
