The Dane County Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting tonight at 7:00pm, where members of the public can attend either in person in room 201 of the City-County Building, or virtually. At the meeting, the Board will consider an ordinance amendment that, if approved, would prohibit the County from contracting with entities involved in the investigation or prosecution of someone seeking abortion care.

County Board Supervisor Heidi Wegleitner (District 2), and Chair of the Health and Human Needs Committee said "access to health care, including abortion care, is a human right. This ordinance amendment shows that the Dane County Board will use its power to fight back against this dangerous attack on human rights."

The ordinance amendment also indicates that no county funds appropriated for programs and services shall be expended or committed to monitoring, investigating, or prosecuting any person for violating Wis. Stat. 940.04, which limits abortion care in Wisconsin.

"The unprecedented actions by the Supreme Court earlier this year have taken away reproductive care rights. We need to do what we can to fight for these rights, including by not condoning the actions of others the County works with," said County Board Chair Patrick Miles.
